TORRENT, INC. DEBUTS; BRINGS UNIQUE BLEND OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION AND GREEN SENSIBILITY TO CONSUMER ELECRONICS MARKET

New company enhances the HD experience through thoughtful solutions to well-documented problems of connectivity and ease of use.

Las Vegas, NVInternational Consumer Electronics ShowJanuary 8, 2009 — Torrent, Inc. today enters the consumer electronics market with the focus to provide solutions for underserved segments in need of innovation. Addressing the gap between existing products that either over-shoot or under-deliver, Torrent develops high-performance, high-quality electronics that merge eco-friendly design with advanced, problem-solving features at a competitive price.

Torrent's initial product focus is digital connectivity — an area long-plagued by loose connections, interference, cumbersome designs and protocol confusion. This is partly fueled by the rapid advancement of home theater, gaming and PC systems that far out-pace the advancement of their requisite cables; leaving end users and professional installers with a frustrating point of failure. For example, as acknowledged by the HDMI Licensing group itself, the HDMI cable specification lacks a lock-in mechanism to keep it in place, a chief complaint amongst professional installers. Despite this and other known deficiencies, existing products miss the mark in one of two ways: either designed to minimum specs that don't equate to real-world functionality, or "souped up" with bells and whistles that don't solve fundamental problems.

Torrent stands apart from the status quo by offering premium performance plus much-needed features that address the top complaints of consumers today. These patent-pending features range from superior shielding for minimized interference to fortified connections for greater reliability — freeing users from the time-wasting need to trouble shoot. Most importantly, Torrent's research and development focus squarely on the end user experience — yielding meaningful improvements that bring interconnects up to par with today's digital systems and scaling for the future.

"In an increasingly undifferentiated market, Torrent has a distinctive story; introducing innovative features that put an end the needless consumer headaches associated with poor connectivity, all with an eco-friendly bent," said Adam Levin, CEO of Levin Consulting, which specializes in channel consulting for the consumer electronics industry. "In addition to its value for consumers, Torrent offers a very unique opportunity for channel partners seeking differentiation."

In addition, unlike most electronics manufacturers now "going green" in reverse, Torrent initiates the design process with green materials from the start. Its products exceed the RoHS Directive and are manufactured without the use of harmful substances such as PVC, halogen and phthalate. Going even further, they also lack the presence of bromine, lead and mercury as validated through rigorous analysis by the independent and accredited IMR Test Labs. The company is also researching the use of recycled metals and plastics, and matches its green design practices with eco-sensitive attention to packaging, swap programs, and business operations.

"We created Torrent to transform areas of the consumer electronics market in clear need of innovation, beginning with cables and interconnects — an often overlooked or misunderstood piece of the equation for end users," said Craig Palli, CEO and Co-founder. "Even the highest-end system is only as good as its weakest link, and yet millions of dollars are spent each year on cables that fail in their most fundamental tasks."

"Our designs exceed the merely satisfactory to make connections stronger, more reliable and easier to use — understanding that mega bandwidth is useless without a secure, distortion-free connection. Moreover, we're pleased to prove that green design and quality can go hand-in-hand, and that neither should come at added cost to the consumer," said Palli.

Torrent's first products will be HDMI cables and component video cables ranging from standard to more advanced models for home theater, gaming and PC use. All are backed by the company's lifetime warranty and environmental commitment.

Torrent's initial product lines are slated for availability in Spring 2009 through select resellers and professional installers.
